We have a feeling she can accomplish anything she puts her mind to.




A Mexican girl named Adhara Pérez became widely known for having an IQ of 162. For the benefit of those who don’t know it (like me), that is two points higher than the IQ of famous physicists Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking.

When Adhara was still three years old, she was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. According to Nationwide Children’s, “Asperger’s Syndrome, a form of Autism Spectrum Disorder, is a developmental disorder. Young people with Asperger’s Syndrome have a difficult time relating to others socially and their behavior and thinking patterns can be rigid and repetitive.”

Because of this, Adhara was often bullied in school. Her classmates called her “weirdo” and “oddball.” Her mother, Nallely Sanchez, saw all this right before her eyes and there’s nothing more painful than seeing your child being treated in such an unacceptable way.

“I saw that Adhara was playing in a little house and they locked her up. And they started to chant: ‘Oddball, weirdo!’” she told Yucatan Times. “And then they started hitting the little house. So I said, I don’t want her to suffer.”

Sadly, even her teachers didn’t believe that there was a bright future waiting for the little girl.

Because of the maltreatment that she was getting from her classmates, Adhara decided to no longer go to school. She got depressed and traumatized by her bad experience.

She’d rarely go to school, but whenever she does, she’d just sleep during class. Adhara also wouldn’t participate that much during school activities.

Her mother was heartbroken. however, she also knew that Adhara was more than just a bullied little girl. Nallely knew that her child is intelligent, an intelligence that’s rarely seen in most children of her age.

In fact, at such a young age, Adhara already mastered Algebra and the periodic table of elements. That’s impressive if I may say, don’t you agree too? There are not so many kids who could nail that right away.

When they took the little girl to a psychiatrist, they recommended enrolling Adhara in the Center for Attention to Talent (CEDAT), a school for the gifted.

They soon found out that Adhara was a genius!

With her gift of intelligence, she was able to finish elementary school at 5 years old, middle school by 6, and high school by 8! That’s downright impressive! Her parents must’ve been so proud of her academic excellence.

Adhara is currently earning two online degrees; Industrial Engineering in Mathematics at UNITEC and Systems Engineering at CNCI. This young girl is also aiming to become a NASA astronaut.

She also became interested in studying astrophysics at the University of Arizona. Although she’s already been offered a scholarship by the said university, acquiring US Visa was her ultimate hurdle in getting in.

In 2019, Adhara was listed by Forbes as one of the most powerful women in Mexico!

This genius young girl also wrote a memoir entitled “Don’t Give Up.” There, she discussed her experiences, her downs, and lows, her wins and her loses.

She would also like to be an advocate for boys who also have autism. On the other hand, she wants to make science more inclusive for girls.

Added to her credentials were her invitations to special events in Russia and Dubai, where she presented one of her projects – a smart bracelet that can study people’s emotions.

Let this be a lesson to us all, it’s cliché but still a good lesson to ponder, “never judge a book by its cover”, especially to people with special needs.
